The Marijuana (MJ) Tax Unit is an integrated team that supports LCB Auditors, Licensing and Enforcement Divisions, and LCB licensees with interpretation of RCW's & WAC's related to marijuana tax reporting, privilege activity and revenue distribution.This position directly reports to the Tax & Fee Accounting Manager and supervises two Fiscal Analyst 2 positions and one Fiscal Analyst 3. The ideal candidate for this position will contribute to the mission of LCB by providing excellent customer service to our internal and external customers, comply with all RCW’s, WAC’s, Federal Policies and Regulations, state policies and regulations governed by OFM, GAAP, GASB, and LCB policies as they pertain to the accounting function. Additionally, the position provides timely and accurate financial data to ensure efficiency and maximum benefit of resources. 


Supervisor for fiscal related professional staff performing financial reviews of marijuana excise tax payments (e-payment, cash, check)
Review staff work for accuracy
Conducting training, cross train staff to ensure there is back-up for all positions
Work actively with each staff member in their professional development and career advancement
Create new desk manuals for new positions and maintain desk manuals for existing position and duties
Provide staff with honest and timely feedback – both formal and informal
Continuously look for ways to streamline work and minimize waste using Lean Principles
Complete assigned administrative tasks within deadlines
Provide conflict resolution for staff and customers
Agency expert in providing interpretation of RCW and WAC related to MJ tax and reporting requirements.  Compliance with fiscal policies, procedures, RCW and WAC pertaining to tax collection
Provide technical support to field agency auditors and field agency enforcement officers related to fiscal activity and financial systems for tax reporting
Notify and make recommendations for non-privilege compliance
Respond to public requests
Assist in writing policies and develop procedures; other duties assigned by Tax & Fee Accounting Manager

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
< >Bachelor’s degree, which includes 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting credits required (work experience may substitute for year-for-year on education, but not for required accounting credits).  Candidate must have a minimum four years applicable work experience.Knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, government accounting and internal control processes.Microsoft Office Suite – Intermediate level
