our opportunity at a glance
As the Fingerprint and Criminal History Records Information Coordinator (Program Specialist 2) you are responsible for facilitating criminal background checks and research.  You will seek other background information on Marijuana Licensing applicants for the Marijuana Licensing Specialist 3’s assisting unit staff in achieving the task of processing and investigating potential licensees’ applications. You will provide summaries of said searches to the Division Compliance and Policy Manager, Marijuana Licensing and Regulation Manager and/or other Division management staff that are responsible for making license application denial threshold decisions.

You will be a liaison of the Criminals History Record Information program between Marijuana Licensing Investigator 3’s, Enforcement officers, Licensing applicants, Attorney General’s Office, Department of Licensing, various Police departments, and the general public.


Process Fingerprints inquiries through the application process working with Fieldprint, the WSP (Washington State Patrol) and Federal government for Marijuana Licensing applicants.
Work in conjunction with the WSP and WSLCB Enforcement staff to interpret the information that is received from the WSP that will include information from the NCIC resource.
Run name, date of birth searches and/or credit reports on all new applications for a marijuana license to include annual renewals.
Serves as consultant/information resource to the Marijuana licensing specialists and Division management for interpretive support regarding the criminal history information.
Review/consult with licensing specialists on criminal history reviewed for marijuana applicants.
Compose and issue letters to the Marijuana applicants regarding non-disclosures and or incomplete applications information on the finger print or criminal history form.
Oversee a thorough review of the applicant’s criminal history and provide a detailed summary of the findings to the licensing specialist based on finger print data and responses to personal criminal history data requests.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications

Associates Degree in Business, computer science, criminal justice or closely related field from an accredited college or university.

Microsoft office Basic experience for Outlook and Word

Expert proficiency level working in Excel

Skilled in oral and written communication

Ability to read, interpret and apply complex laws, policies and procedures

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

Six months experience working in a Court or law enforcement agency using the JIS (Justice Information System)
Six months experience working in the area of fingerprinting and background checks for local or State government
